The Post Office on Gravelly Lane is due to close on the 3rd October 2008. All I can say is that the service here has been the worst I have ever known, slow, talking on the phone while serving, trying to serve two people at once and ending up muddling up. Long queues, opening up to 15 minutes late, no please's or thank you's, and if you are lucky to get a Good Morning or Afternoon greeting, it is insincere. In fact it deserves to be closed down, the people running it have not got a clue.

This used to be a public house for years, not sure when it closed. It was converted at great cost to flats and look what happened. Wrecked.

This is a shop on Gravelly Lane in Erdington, not sure of its opening times. One of the shops that are curious to the passerby. It is a Militaria and Curios shop with a few badges and medals on window display. I have no connection with it, but it is one of the small shops in Erdington that have been here for years and are part and parcel of the town.

This is a shop called 'Reupholstery by Clive' on the corner of Court Lane and Somerset Rd, Erdington, Birmingham. It is a upholstery shop which does repairs, antiques, and suites. It has a showroom. I have never been in it, but it is one of those shops tucked away in Erdington off the beaten track.

Gravelly Lane, Erdington, Birmingham Aug 2008 - Boldmere, Sutton Coldfield

First clip is of Gravelly Lane in Erdington, Birmingham. There used to be a cycle shop called Tower Cycles, where I bought a pushbike from in 1985. The shop is now called Tower Carpets. There is a really good local butcher shop next door to the carpet shop, Bill Wickett, which has been in existance for many years, excellent service there. There is Gravelly Chippy across the road which has had new management since around July this year.

The second clip is from 2007, when we had torrential rain and I was amazed to see the 'river' that flowed down the High st at Boldmere Rd, Boldmere, Sutton Coldfield. I had my cam and took this clip, but shortly after my camera stopped working as it had got wet, a very expensive lesson learned about water and electronic equipment.
